124 forever defend by these presents of all and singular which said negroes I the said William Andrews Sr. have put the said William Andrews my son in full possession by delivering to him the same at the sealing and delivering of these presents in the name of the whole hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be unto him the said William Andrews my so as aforesaid In witness whereof I the said William Andrews Sr. have hereunto set my hand and seal this First day of August in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty four Charles Corkran William Andrews (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County Sct. Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this First day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four before the Subscriber of the Justices of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appears William Andrews Sr. he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing deed of Indenture or Bill of Sale and doth acknowledge the said deed of indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed. In testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Charles Corkran 1854 August 1st Received of M.r William Andrews the Sum of one dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of Sale F. J. Henry Clerk Mary Jones Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Manumission √ To xd was received recorded on the 4th day of August 1854 to wit: Henry Macer & To all whom it may concern, be it known, that I Mary Jones of Dorchester Hagar Jenkins (negroes) County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery, liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man Henry Macer being of the age of thirty years and my negro woman Hagar Jenkins being of the age of thirty years both of them able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and them the said Henry Macer & Hagar Jenkins I do declare to be free as follows Henry Macer on the 1st of January 1860 and Hagar Jenkins on the 1.st of January 1857 to be thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Service or Servitude to me my Executors or administrators forever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and my seal affixed this 3.d day of August in the year of our Lord 1854 Mary Jones (seal) Witness. W.m Rea W.m F. Pattison Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on this 3d day of August 1854. Then came before me the undersigned a Justice of the Peace in and for Said County Mary Jones known to me as the identical Mistress named within and acknowledged the within deed of Manumission to be her act and deed according to the acts of Assembly in such Case made and provided Acknowledged before W.m F.
