121 State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bond was √ from xd received and recorded on the 3.d day of July 1854 to wit: John E. Applegarth (Stamp) Know all men by these presents that we John E. Richard H Col. state taxes & sureties ( Six ) Tubman Levin L. Keene George H. Meekins George Wallace & Edward (Dollars) C. Johnson of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and Just Sum of Fifteen thousand five hundred and thirty dollars and Sixty eight Cents current money of the united States to be paid to the said State or its certain attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this third day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four. The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden John E. Applegarth appointed Collector of the direct tax for Dorchester County Shall well and faithfully execute the office of Collector of the direct tax for Said County and the several duties required of him by law and shall well and truly account for and pay to the Treasurer of Maryland the Several Sums of Money which he shall receive or be answerable for by law at such time as the law shall direct their above obligation to be void or else to be and remain in full force and virtue in law Signed Sealed and delivered John E Applegarth (seal) in the presence of R. Creighton of Dorchester County in the & sureties (Dollars) State of Maryland are held and bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and Just Sum of fifteen thousand dollars current money of the united States to be paid to the State of Maryland which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and every of us our and every of our heirs executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole Jointly and Severally by these precepts sealed with our seals and dated this 19th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four The Conditions of the above obligation are such that if the above bounden William Creighton shall well and truly discharge the duties of Treasurer of Primary Schools of Dorchester County according to law then the above obligation Shall be void otherwise it is to be and remain in full force and virtue in law William Creighton (seal) Signed in presence of William Rea (seal) William H.
