119 Crecy Farrow negro Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following receipt was received and recorded on the Paid from xd 15th day of January 1854 to wit: John Thompson Received January 24th 1853 of Crecy Farrow the sum of Twenty Four Dollars in full for her son John W. Farrow nine years old a slave for life Tested by me on the 15.th day of June John Thompson 1854 Mr Thompson being present and admitting his signature to be genuine & also the property to have been delivered F. J. Henry Delivered to Crecy Farrow June 15th 1854 Crecy Farrow free negro Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Manumission was received and recorded Paid To xd on the 15th day of June 1854 to wit: John Farrow negro To all persons whom it doth or may Concern: Be it Known that I Crecy Farrow free Colored woman of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving, do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and Set free my negro boy John Farrow when he shall arrive at the age of Twenty one years, which will be on the tenth day of August Eighteen Hundred and Sixty five the said negro boy John Farrow, I do declare to be thenceforth that is to say, from and after the said tenth day of August Eighteen Hundred and Sixty five freed manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or Service to me my executors or administrators and from all manner of Claim ^or right of claim^ of servitude or service by me my Executors or administrators forever. In Testimony Whereof, I hereto Subscribe my name and affix my seal this fifteenth day of June Eighteen her Hundred and fifty four Crecy x Farrow (seal) Signed Sealed & delivered mark in the presence of W.m D. Barrow Josiah Jump Maryland Dorchester County Sc: Be it remembered that on this fifteenth day of June Eighteen Hundred and fifty four, personally appears Crecy Farrow, free Colored woman, party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland for the Said County and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned Acknowledged before W.m D. Barrow Thomas H. Cook Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Bill of Sale was √ from x.d received and recorded on the 15th day of June 1854 to wit: Lloyd N. Harris Know all men by these presents that I Lloyd N Harris of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of thirty seven Dollars current money to me in hand paid by Thomas Cook of the Same County and state, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I the said Lloyd N. Harris do hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained and Sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Thomas Cook his Executors, administrators, and assigns all the goods household Stuff, implements and furniture particularly mentioned expressed and contained in the Schedule viz: that is to say one Cow three weeding Hoes one riding Saddle and bridle two plough bridles one table one breeding Sow five Shoats all and singular which Said goods and Chattels are now remaining standing and being in a certain messuage or tenement and farm situate in Hillspoint neck and now in the the occupation of the Said Lloyd Harris. To Have and To Hold all and Singular the said goods, household Stuff and furniture and other the premises above bargained and Sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said Thomas Cook his Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Lloyd N. Harris for myself, my heirs executors and administrators all and Singular the Said goods household stuff and furniture and other the premises unto the said Thomas Cook his executors administrators |
