111 therein set forth Acknowledged and Sworn before D. W. Tyler 1854 April 25.th Received of Severn Johnson the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of Sale Francis J. Henry Clk Asbury McNamara Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was √ from xd received and recorded on the 26th day of April 1854 to wit: John Griffith Know all Men by these presents that I John Griffith of Baltimore City and state of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Three hundred and fifty dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Asbury McNamara of Dorchester County and state of Maryland have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Asbury McNamara his heirs and assigns negro woman Juliet aged about twenty five years slave for life and sound in body and mind. To Have and To Hold the Said negro woman Juliet as above bargained and sold unto the said Asbury McNamara his heirs Executors administrators and assigns against me the said John Griffith my heirs Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend. In Testimony whereof I John Griffith have hereto set my hand and affixed seal this 26.th day of April eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed Sealed and Delivered John Griffith (Seal) in the presence of Charles Corkran Maryland Dorchester County to wit: On the 26th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Fifty four personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said County the within named John Griffith and acknowledged the within bill of Sale to be his act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same and at the same time Came before me Asbury Mcnamara within mentioned and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration set forth in this bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846 Chapter 271 made and provided Acknowledged Before, Charles Corkran 1854 April 26th: Received of Asbury Mcnamara the sum of one dollar in Lieu of a Stamp on this BIll of Sale Francis J. Henry Clk alienated to W.m S. Goslin & Tilghman Hubbard Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Paid from xd Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 5.th day of May in Zachariah White the year of our Lord 1854 to wit: Know all men by these presents that I Zachariah White of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of One hundred and Eighty eight dollars Current money to me in hand paid by William S. Goslin of Dorchester County and Tilghman Hubbard of Caroline County both of the state aforesaid at and before the Sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Zachariah White do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and Sell unto the said William S. Goslin and Tilghman Hubbard their Executors administrators and assigns all the goods Chattels household Stuff implements and furniture hereinafter particularly |
