Levin Phillips      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale
  √ from  xd        was received and recorded on the 10th day of April 1854 to wit
Thomas W. Byns            Know all men by these presents that I Thomas W. Byns of Dorchester
                          County and state of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of two hundred
and twelve dollars & fifty Seven Cents Current money to me in hand paid at and before the sealing
and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained & sold and by
these presents do bargain & sell unto Levin Phillips his Executors administrators and assigns two negro
Children named John & Sarah which I purchased from Jas E. Douglass Esq. Sheriff at Sheriff Sale
under an Execution issued out of the Circuit Court of Dorchester County at of Thos W. Byns vs Levin
W. Tall.  To Have and To Hold said negroes named John & Sarah above bargained & sold to the said
Levin Phillips, his Executors administrators and assigns forever.  But I do not guarantee any title or warrant
against any person but myself or those Claiming from or under me it being the intention of these presents to
Convey simply the interest obtained by virtue of said Executions & the Sale and purchase thereunder

          Witness my hand & seal this 7th day of April Anno Domini Eighteen hundred & fifty four

    State of Maryland Dorchester County sct
                   Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 7th day of April 1854 before the
Subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in & for Said County & Cambridge District personally
appeared Thomas W. Byns he being Known to me to be the person who is named and described as the
party vendor in the above bill of Sale and acknowledges the said instrument of writing to be his act
and deed and allso appears Levin Phillips & makes Oath that the Consideration therein Expressed
is true & bona fide as therein set forth                  In testimony whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my
name on the day & year aforesaid                                                            W.m D. Barrow

       Received April 10.th 1854 of Levin Phillips the sum of one Dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of
Sale                                                                                                                  F. J. Henry Clk


Morris Newman         Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following
paid   from   xd           Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 19th day of April
Abraham Newman     1854 to wit      Know all men by these presents that I Abraham Newman
                               of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the
Sum of Three Thousand Dollars Current money of Maryland to me in hand paid by Morris Newman of
Baltimore City and state aforesaid, at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof
I the said Abraham Newman doth hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and Sold, and by these
presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the Said Morris Newman his Executors administrators and
assigns all the stock of Dry goods and merchandize which I now have on hand and in my store
in Cambridge Dorchester County Maryland.  To Have and To Hold all the said stock of Dry goods
and Merchandize as above bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said Morris
Newman his Executors administrators and assigns ^forever and I the said Abraham Newman for myself my heirs executors and administrators all and singular this said stock of Dry goods and merchandize unto the said Morris Newman and his Executors administrators and assigns^ against me the said Abraham Newman my Executors
and administrators and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents.   In witness whereof I Abraham Newman hath hereunto
set my hand and affixed my seal this eleventh day of April Eighteen Hundred and fifty four
