104 in my name lawfully do or Cause to be done in and about the premises by virtue of these presents as also to hire out or sell my negro boy Stansbury and to receive the wages or the money arising from the sale (as the case may be) to pass receipts for the hire or Execute a Bill of Sale for the said boy (Stansbury) and the same shall be to all intents and purposes valid as though I was personally present to execute the Same and to retain all said monies until further directions from me or my heirs In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 17.th day of April 1844 Charles Corkrane James Rea State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 17.th day of April in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and forty four before the Subscribers Two Justices of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for Said County Personally appeard Love Ross She being Satisfactorily proved to us to be the person who is named and described in the within Power of Attorney Contained in the foregoing deed or indenture and by virtue and in pursuance of the power and authority thereby granted doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be the act and deed of the Party thereto In testimony whereof we hereunto subscribe our names on the day and year aforesaid Charles Corkran James Rea Negro Frank Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following manumission √ from xd was received and recorded on the 25.th day of March 1854 to wit: Minos Adams To all whom it may Concern be it Known That I Minos Adams of Dorchester County State of Maryland For divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Frank being the age of Forty years and able to work and gain Sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said Negro man named Frank I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Servitude or Service to me my Executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 24 day of March in the year of our Lord 1854 Signed Sealed and delivered Minos Adams (seal) In the presence of Daniel Cannon Minos Adams Junr Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of one dollar Current money it being the full Consideration money within mentioned Minos Adams Junr Daniel Cannon Minos Adams (seal) Dorchester County to wit: On this 27th day of March ^1854^ personally appears Minos Adams party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the Said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Daniel Cannon J.
