MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
[Pursuant to Sections 101 and 201 of the Charter of the Town of Hurlock,
Dorchester County, as found in the Public Local Laws of Maryland - Compilation of
Municipal Charters (1990 Replacement Edition and 2000 Supplement). Effective Date September 7, 2001]
KENSINGTON (Montgomery County) Charter Amendment
Resolution No: 2002-02 WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 403 of the Charter of the Town of Kensington has
limitations of content that hinder the ability of the Town to carry out its mandated
functions; WHEREAS, the Charter amendment to Article IV, Section 403 has been
developed by the Council to improve the governance of the Town; WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 403 is being amended to increase the residency
requirement for Council members to one year ("Council Members shall have resided
in the Town for at least ONE YEAR [six months] immediately preceding their
election and shall be qualified to be registered voters of the Town."). [Section 403 of Article IV of the Charter of the Town of Kensington, Montgomery
County, as found in the Public Local Laws of Maryland - Compilation of Municipal
Charters (1990 Replacement Edition and 2000 Supplement), repealed and reenacted,
with amendments. Effective Date May 14, 2002]
Charter Amendment
Resolution No: 2002-03 WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 405 of the Charter of the Town of Kensington has
limitations of content that hinder the ability of the Town to carry out its mandated
functions; WHEREAS, the Charter amendment to Article IV, Section 405 has been
developed by the Council to improve the governance of the Town; WHEREAS, Article W, Section 405 is being amended to add "THE ABSENCE
OF THE MAYOR OR ANY COUNCIL MEMBER FROM THREE MEETINGS OF
THE TOWN COUNCIL DURING A CALENDAR YEAR, WITHOUT BEING
FORMALLY EXCUSED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL, SHALL RESULT IN THAT
OFFICE BEING DEEMED VACANT AND THE OFFICE SHALL BE FILLED AS
SET FORTH IN VACANCIES."
