AN ACT concerning

Health Occupations - License to Practice Medicine - Exemption from

License Fee

FOR the purpose of establishing that a license to practice medicine that is issued free
of charge to a physician under certain circumstances expires on a certain date;
altering the period after which a license to practice medicine may be renewed;
and generally relating to health occupations and licenses to practice medicine.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

14-315.

(a) The Board shall issue a license free of charge to any physician who:

(1) Provides medical services to patients for which the physician receives
no personal remuneration;

(2) Is not engaged in the private practice of medicine; and

(3) Otherwise qualifies for a license under this title.

(b) Except as provided in subsection (c) of this section, each license issued
under this section expires on the [first] SECOND anniversary of the date on which it
is issued and may be renewed [annually] EVERY 2 YEARS on application to the Board.

(c) (1) If, at any time, a physician licensed under this section ceases to meet
the requirements of subsection (a)(1) or (2) of this section, the licensee shall notify the
Board of the status change.

(2) On receipt of this notice, the Board shall charge the physician the
license fee otherwise required under this subtitle.
