1997 LAWS OF MARYLAND

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 10 - Legal Officials

40.

(t) In Somerset County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is [$72,000] $79,200.
Article 25 - County Commissioners

51.

(r) The annual salary of the County Treasurer of Somerset County is [$35,000]

$38,500.

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

(u) (1) (i) The Sheriff of Somerset County shall receive a salary of not less
than [$38,000] $41,800 and no expense allowance.

Article 20 - Somerset County

(b) Each Commissioner shall receive an annual salary of [$5,000] $5,500.

(a) The members of the County Roads Board shall each receive, in addition to
their compensation as County Commissioners, a salary of [$5,000] $5,500 annually as a
member of the County Roads Board.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the State's Attorney for Somerset County, the
County Treasurer of Somerset County, the Sheriff of Somerset County, or the County
Commissioners of Somerset County in office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act concerning the salary or compensation of the State's Attorney for
Somerset County, the County Treasurer of Somerset County, the Sheriff of Somerset
County, and the County Commissioners of Somerset County shall take effect at the
beginning of the next following terms of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.
