AN ACT concerning

Somerset County - Board of Education - Compensation

FOR the purpose of repealing the authority of the County Commissioners of Somerset
County to provide certain additional compensation in the County budget for certain
members of the County Board of Education.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

3-1203.

(a) [(l)]Annual compensation for the Board is as follows:

[(i)] (1) Chairman - $3,000

[(ii)](2) Member - $2,700

[(2) The County Commissioners may provide additional compensation in the
County budget.]

(b) The Chairman and other members are entitled to:

(1) Reimbursement for expenses incurred in official duties performed
outside Somerset County; and

(2) $500 per member per year for expenses incurred in official duties
performed within Somerset County.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.
