H.B. 485

VETOES

The bill also repeals the prohibition on the sale or disposal of certain parts of specimens
by a taxidermist or fur tanner licensee.

House Bill 946, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on this date,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill
485.

AN ACT concerning

Taxidermists and For Tanners - Sale or Disposal of Specimens

FOR the purpose of repealing the prohibition on the sale or disposal of certain specimens
and certain parts of specimens by a taxidermist or fur tanner licensee; and generally
relating to the sale or disposal of specimens.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Natural Resources
Section 10-512(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1990 Replacement Volume and 1995 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Natural Resources

10-512.

(a) (1) Any person desiring to commercially practice the art of taxidermy or fur
tanning or who desires to mount, preserve, or tan any species of wildlife for another
person first shall obtain a taxidermist and fur tanner's license.

(2)     A taxidermist and fur tanner's license also shall permit the holder:

(i) To mount, preserve, or tan any species of finfish pursuant to Title
4 of this article; and

(ii) Except as provided in paragraph (3) of this subsection, with the
written approval of the Department for each specimen, to sell or dispose of any tanned,
cured, or mounted specimen legally acquired but unclaimed by the customer within 30
days after written notice to the customer by certified mail.

(3)     A license holder may not sell or dispose of any tanned, cured, or
mounted specimen that is [:
