shall take effect October 1, 2001.

AN ACT concerning
State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors - Drug and Alcohol Therapists
Alcohol and Drug Counselors - Certification
FOR the purpose of certifying certain counselors who provide drug and alcohol therapy
alcohol and drug counseling; establishing certain qualifications for certification of
counselors who provide drug and alcohol therapy alcohol and drug counseling;
restricting the use of certain titles and initials; altering the membership of the State
Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors; authorizing the State Board of
Examiners of Professional Counselors to waive examination requirements for
certain applicants and to waive certification requirements for certain individuals;
defining certain terms; repealing a certain provision of law that exempts the employment
related activities and services of certain individuals from the Maryland Psychologists Act-
providing for the effective dates of this Act; providing for the construction of this Act;
defining certain terms; and generally relating to the certification of counselors who
provide drug and alcohol therapy alcohol and drug counseling.
