(2)     All appointed officials as provided in § 2-106 of this title; [and]

(3)     In Prince George's County:

(i) The deputy chief of park police as provided in § 5-114(b) of this
article; and

(ii) Any director as provided in § 7-111(c) of this article; AND

(4)     IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, ANY POSITION EXCLUDED UNDER §
7-111(C) OF THIS ARTICLE.

(c) (1) Each planning board shall have administrative control and jurisdiction
over personnel performing the duties and functions assigned in this section to the
respective planning boards.

(2)     (i) In Prince George's County, a director of a department shall have
education or professional experience in a field relevant to the responsibilities of that
department.

(ii) A director shall receive the compensation established in the
budget for the Prince George's County planning board.

(iii) 1. Except as provided in item 2 of this subparagraph, a director
serves at the pleasure of the Prince George's County planning board.

2. In Prince George's County, a person who, on June 30, 1991,
is a director of planning or a director of Parks and Recreation may elect to remain in the
merit system established under § 2-112 of this article.

(3)      (I) SUBJECT TO SUBPARAGRAPH (II) OF THIS PARAGRAPH, IN
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, A DIRECTOR SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE
MONTGOMERY COUNTY PLANNING BOARD.

(II) ANY INDIVIDUAL WHO, ON JULY 1, 1995, HELD A POSITION
AFFECTED BY THIS PARAGRAPH MAY ELECT TO REMAIN IN THE MERIT SYSTEM
ESTABLISHED UNDER § 2-112 OF THIS ARTICLE

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1996.
