The Honorable Casper R. Taylor, Jr.

Speaker of the House of Delegates

State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 1005.

This bill requires the State Highway Administration to designate the portion of Maryland
Route 24 located between the U.S. 1 bypass and U.S. 40 as the Vietnam Veterans
Memorial Highway.

Senate Bill 281, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 11,
1995, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore; it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 1005.

Sincerely,

Parris N. Glendening

Governor
