SUBTITLE 2. DORCHESTER COUNTY TRANSITION.
18-201.
THE DORCHESTER COUNTY DISPENSARY SYSTEM SHALL REMAIN IN
OPERATION UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ENACTS A
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OF LEGISLATION THAT CREATES A RATIONAL SYSTEM OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES LICENSES FOR THE COUNTY.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That on October 1, 1996,
subject to the provisions of Title 18, Subtitle 2, the dispensary system shall terminate and
all stock shall be liquidated in a manner prescribed by the Liquor Control Board. Any
profits from the sale of the stock, after payment of expenses and debts, shall be
distributed as follows:
(a) 50% to the Dorchester County government; and
(b) 50% to the Dorchester County General Hospital.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Liquor Control
Board shall terminate on October 1, 1996, but shall remain in effect after its termination
only for the purposes of terminating the dispensary system, liquidating the stock, and
distributing the profits. Once those purposes have been met, the Board shall cease to
exist, subject to the provisions of Title 18, Subtitle 2.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1996.

AN ACT concerning
Vehicle Laws - Abandoned Vehicles - Retention by Police for Public Purposes
FOR the purpose of authorizing a police department that takes an abandoned vehicle
into custody to retain the vehicle for public purposes under certain circumstances;
providing that the failure of certain persons to take certain actions shall be deemed
to be consent by the owner or lessor to retention of the vehicle for public purposes;
requiring the police department to provide a certain notice to the registered owner
and the secured party under certain circumstances; requiring the written consent of
a secured party or lessor under certain circumstances before the vehicle may be
retained by the police department for public purposes; providing that an abandoned
vehicle retained for public use may set be dismantled or disassembled for its parts;
providing for the disposition of the vehicle when it is no longer usable for public
purposes; making stylistic changes; defining a certain term; and generally relating to
the retention of abandoned vehicles by police departments for public purposes.
