AN ACT concerning
Security Systems Technicians - Exception from Licensure - Requirements Licensure
Deadlines and Sunset Extension
FOR the purpose of excepting persons licensed under the Maryland Heme Improvement
Law from licensure requirements for security systems technicians; requiring persons
licensed under the Maryland Home Improvement Law to perform certain acts prior
to engaging in the business of providing securities systems services extending the
time by which a person who is engaged in the business of providing security system
services is required to obtain a license; extending the termination date of a certain
Act; providing that this Act is an emergency measure; and generally relating to the
licensure of security systems technicians.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article—Business Occupations and Professions
18-301.
(a) Except as otherwise provided in this title, a person shall be licensed by the
Superintendent as a security systems technician before the person may engage in the
business of providing security systems services in the State.
(b) A person who sells security systems at the protected premises or the premises
to be protected but does not install, maintain, or repair those systems:
(1) is not required to be licensed under this title; but
(2) is required to:
