Sealed with our seals and dated this 17.th day of April 1848.

The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above
bounden Augustus T. Wheatley shall well and truly execute the Office of
Constable in Election district number one in Dorchester County, in all
things appertaining thereto, and shall well and truly account for all
monies placed in his hands for collection, and shall also well & truly
pay all sums of money received by him, then the above Obligation to be
void, otherwise of full force and virtue in law.

Dorchester County, To wit:   On the 17.th day of April 1848, personally
appeared before me, the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace in and for the
County aforesaid, James Higgins and Barzillai Slacum, and made
the following Oath, to wit:  "We James Higgins and Barzillai
Slacum, subscribing witnesses to the above Bond, do make Oath
that Augustus T. Wheatley, James E. Douglass and John W.
Martino, Obligors mentioned in the said Bond, did severally, in
our presence, sign, seal & deliver the said Bond as their act and
deed, for the purposes therein mentioned."
Sworn before me on the day above mentioned.         Ja.s Hammersly


State of Maryland               Be it remembered that the following Bond was
          from            Ex.d      recorded on the 17.th day of April 1848, To wit:
J E Douglass & others        {Stamp}     Know all men by these presents, that we
                                         {one dol.}   James E. Douglass, Augustus T. Wheatley
and Algernon Corkran, of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, are held
and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland, in the full & just sum of
Two thousand dollars, current money of the United States, to be paid to the
said State, or its Attorney; to the which payment well and truly to be made &
done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and Administrators, jointly and
severally, firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals & dated this 17.th day
of April 1848.

                                  The Condition of the above Obligation is
