Obligation to be void, otherwise of full force & virtue in law.

Dorchester County, To wit:   On the 17.th day of April 1848, personally
appeared before me, the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace, in and for the
County aforesaid, Barzillai Slacum and James Higgins, and made
the following Oath, To wit:  "We Barzillai Slacum and James
Higgins, subscribing witnesses to the above Bond, do make Oath that
James E. Douglass, Augustus T. Wheatley and Algernon Corkran,
Obligors mentioned in the said Bond, did severally, in our presence,
sign, seal & deliver the said Bond, as their act and deed, for the
purposes therein mentioned."   Sworn before me on the day above mentioned.

State of Maryland               Be it remembered that the following
Paid   from      Ex.d             Bond was recorded on the 17.th day of
Nimrod Newton & others   April 1848, To wit:
                                           {Stamp}     Know all men by these presents,
that we Nimrod Newton,    {one dol.}   Thomas Helsby and John W.
Dawson, of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, are held and
firmly bound unto the state of Maryland, in the full and just sum of
two thousand dollars, current money of the United States, to be paid
to the said state, or its Attorney; to the which payment well & truly
to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and Administrators,
jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.  Sealed with
our seals and dated this 17.th day of April 1848.

The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above
bounden Nimrod Newton shall well and truly execute the Office of Constable
in Election District number two, in Dorchester County, in all
things appertaining thereto, and shall well and truly account for all
monies placed in his hands for collection, and shall also well & truly
pay all sums of Money received by him, then the above Obligation to
be void, otherwise of full force & virtue in law.
