96 State of Maryland Be it remembered that the following Bond from Ex.d was recorded on the 17.th day of April 1848, To wit: W.m W. LeCompte & others {Stamp} Know all men by these presents, that we {one dol.} William W. LeCompte, William Rea & Thomas Barnett, of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland, in the full and just sum of Two thousand dollars, current money of the United States, to be paid to the said state or its attorney; to the which payment well and truly to be made & done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and Administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 17.th day of April 1848. The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bounden William W. LeCompte shall well & truly execute the Office of Constable of Cambridge, in all things appertaining thereto, and shall well and truly account for all monies placed in his hands for collection, and shall also well and truly pay all sums of money received by him, then the above Obligation to be void, otherwise of full force and virtue in law. Signed, sealed & delivered W.m W. LeCompte (L S) in the presence of William Rea (L S) James Higgins Thomas Barnett (L S) Barzillai Slacum Dorchester County, To wit: on the 17.th day of April 1848, personally appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid, Barzillai Slacum and James Higgins, and made the following Oath, To wit: "We Barzillai Slacum and James Higgins, subscribing witnesses to the above Bond, do make Oath that William W. LeCompte, William Rea and Thomas Barnett, obligors mentioned in the said Bond, did severally, in our presence, sign, seal and deliver the said Bond, as their act and deed, for the purposes therein mentioned."
