9. State of Maryland Be it remembered that the following Bond was from Ex.d recorded on the 7.th day of June 1847, To wit: W.m W. Clifton & others {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that we {one dol.} William W. Clifton, Algernon S. Peircy & Silas Fleming of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Two thousand dollars current money of the United States to be paid to the said state or its Attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors & administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this seventh day of May 1847. The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bounden William W. Clifton shall well and truly execute the office of Constable in Election district number N.o 3 in Dorchester County in all things appertaining thereto and shall well and truly account for all monies placed in his hands for Collection and shall also well and truly pay all sums of Money received by him then the above Obligation to be void otherwise of full force and virtue in law. Signed, sealed & delivered W.m W. Clifton (L S) in the presence of A. S. Percy (L S) Josiah Webb Silas Fleming (L S) G. Sewell Dorchester County, To wit: On the seventh day of May 1847 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid Josiah Webb and G. Sewell and made the following Oath, To wit: "We Josiah Webb & G. Sewell subscribing witnesses to the above Bond do make Oath that William W. Clifton, Algernon S. Percy and Silas Fleming obligors mentioned in the said Bond did severally in our presence sign, seal and deliver the said Bond as their Act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned." Sworn before me on the day above mentioned. J. W. Henry J. P. Know all men by {six dol.} these presents that we William Creighton William Rea, Jeremiah C. Wright and John R. Creighton of Dorchester County are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and just sum of Fifteen thousand dollars current money of the United States to be paid to the State of Maryland to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and every of us our and every of our heirs, executors and Administrators |
