8. Gore of the same County and state of the other part Whereas the said Sarah Rawleigh owes and stands justly indebted to the said John Gore in the sum of two hundred and fifty one dollars and sixty two cents current money and to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these five acts. Now this Indenture witness that the said Sarah Rawleigh for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of one dollar current money to her in hand paid by the said John Gore at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain & sell unto the said John Gore, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns all and singular the Negroes hereinafter particularly mentioned and expressed that is to say Rebecca aged thirty five years, July Ann aged twenty years, Glasgo aged sixteen years, Mary Elizabeth aged nine years, Margaret Amy aged six years To have and to hold all and singular the said negroes unto the said John Gore, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns to his and their own use and behoof: Provided Always, and it declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said Sarah Rawleigh do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John Gore, his executors, Administrators or Assigns the full sum of Two hundred and fifty one dollars and sixty two cents current money with legal interest for the same on or before the first day of January in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty nine then and in such case these presents and every matter and thing therein contained shall cease, determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding: And the said Sarah Rawleigh for herself, her heirs, executors or administrators shall and will well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John Gore his Executors, administrators or assigns the said sum of Two hundred and fifty one dollars and sixty two cents current money together with interest for the same after the date aforesaid at such times and after such manner as herein before set forth & agreed for the payment thereof. In testimony whereof the said Sarah Rawleigh has hereunto set her hand and seal on the day and year first above written Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Sarah Rawleigh (Seal) Brannock Moore Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: on the 5 day of June 1847 personally appeared Sarah Rawleigh before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for the State and County aforesaid and acknowledged the above and within instrument of writing to be her Act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly made in such cases.
