7. Benton H. Crockett Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale from Ex.d was recorded on the 4.th day of June 1847, To wit: Hooper C. Hicks Ex.r Know all men by these presents that Hooper C. Hicks of B. Acworth Executor of Beacham Acworth dec.d of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and twelve dollars and fifty cents lawful money of the United States in hand paid by Benton H. Crockett at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Benton H. Crockett, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns A negro Girl named Caroline aged about seventeen years the property of the said Beacham Acworth dec.d and a slave for life To have and to hold the said described Negro Girl Caroline to the said Benton H. Crockett, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever And the said Hooper C. Hicks, Ex.r of B Acworth for himself, heirs, executors and Administrators the said Negro Girl Caroline unto the said Benton H. Crockett, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns against him the said Hooper C. Hicks, his Executors and Administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of May Eighteen hundred and forty seven (1847) Signed, sealed & delivered Hooper C. Hicks (seal) in the presence of Ex.r of Beacham Acworth State of Maryland Dorchester County SS. Be it remembered that on this twenty seventh day of May 1847 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said State and County appears Hooper C Hicks Ex.r of B. Acworth dec.d and acknowledges the above instrument of Writing to be his Act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged before Brannock Moore (JP.) June 4.th 1847 Received of Benton H.
