70 he may be sick, or disabled from following his daily occupation, the sum of three dollars: Provided he makes application, and it is allowed him in the manner hereinafter directed; and Provided further, that such sickness or debility be not the consequence of some improper conduct of his, or of any disease on him at the time of his admission. Sec. 2. Application for benefits must be made in writing to the W. P. who shall visit the Brother, or cause him to be visited by some member of the Order, within twelve hours thereafter, and if his situation be such as to entitle him to the benefits, an order shall be drawn on the Treasurer for his weekly allowance, which allowance shall commence from the time of making said application, and continue untill he is able to pursue his usual business, if there be as much money in the Treasury. Sec. 3. Any Brother living two miles from the Division, or absent from home, shall be entitled to his benefits: Provided, he forward to the Division as early as possible a certificate from his attending Physician, stating the time of his sickness and the disease. Sec. 4. A sick Brother shall have power to notify two Brothers to sit up with him every right, but the same two shall not be compelled to sit up more than one night in succession; the Brother so notified shall attend in person, or furnish a substitute, under a penalty of fifty cents. Sec. 5. If any Brother, before he has been a contributing member twelve months, be sick, it shall be the duty of the W. P. to visit him, or appoint some member to visit him, and ascertain whether or not his circumstances are necessitous, and require the aid of the division - should he need assistance a contribution shall be levied on each member for the purpose of raising a fund, which shall be placed in the hands of the W. P. for the sick Brother's benefit. If the sum thus raised be more than is necessary to carry out the object of this section, the excess shall be paid into the Treasury. Article 5. Penalties. Sec. 1. Any member neglecting to pay his dues or fines, for more than thirteen weeks, shall stand suspended from the weekly and funeral benefits, and from visiting the Division, and shall not again be entitled to the benefits for three months after all arrearages have been paid. Sec. 2. Should he at any time, within three months from the time of such suspension, desire to be re-instated, he shall express it through a Member to the Division, and if two thirds of the members present do not oppose him, he shall be admitted upon paying all arrearages, but if he does not apply within three months, he shall, in addition to all ^old^ dues, pay the sum of one dollar for his admission. Sec. 3. Any member feigning sickness or debility, for the purpose of obtaining the weekly benefits, or acting imprudently while receiving the same, or being greatly of gross immorality or criminal conduct, or in any way presurreptuously violating the rules of the Order, or the By-laws of the |
