46. State of Maryland Dorchester County Sct. Be it remembered that on the Eighteenth day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty seven personally appeared before me the undersigned as Justice of the Peace in and for Dorchester County John W. Stevens who is known to me as the identical party Mortgagor within described and acknowledged the within Mortgage Bill of sale to be his Act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly in such case made and provided. Acknowledged before W.m W. Le Compte James & W.m Rea Be it remembered that the following Mortgage Bill of from Ex.d Sale was recorded on the 31.st day of December 1847, To wit: John W. Stevens This Indenture made this thirty first day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty seven between John W. Stevens of the Town of Cambridge of the one part and James Rea and William Rea of the same place of the other part Whereas the said John W. Stevens owes and stands justly indebted to the said James Rea & William Rea in the sum of Thirty Eight dollars for arrearages of rent of the present year and to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these presents: Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said John W. Stevens for and in consideration of the Premises and of the sum of Five dollars current money to him in hand paid y the said James Rea & William Rea at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain & sell unto the said James Rea & William Rea, their Executors, Administrators and Assigns all and singular the stock, goods, furniture and House hold stuff ^hereinafter^ particularly mentioned and expressed that is to say one Bay Horse, one Waggon, two Beds, steads & furniture, one folding leaf Table, one Safe, six chairs, three Carpets, one Ironing Table, two sets And Irons, two sets Shovels and Tongs, one Mahogany Stand, and all other House hold furniture I own To have and to hold all and singular the said Stock, goods, furniture and House hold stuff unto the said James Rea and William Rea, their Executors, Administrators and Assigns to them and their own use & behoof: Provided Always and it is declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said John W. Stevens do and shall well & truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Rea and William Rea, their Executors, Administrators or Assigns the full sum of thirty eight dollars current Money with legal interest for the same on or before the first day of March next ensuing the date hereof then and in such case these presents and every matter and thing herein contained shall cease, determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding In testimony whereof the said John W.
