422 The State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that Exd from the following Coronust Bond was received and recorded William Kirby on the 25.th day of May 1852 to wit & others {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that we {one dol} William Kirby Jos Flint & James Straughn {& half} are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the Just and full Sum of Three Thousand dollars current money to be paid to the said State or its Certain Attorney for which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs Executors and administrators firmly by these presents Sealed with our seals and dated this 24.th day of May Eighteen hundred and fifty two The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden William Kirby shall well and truly execute the office of coroner in all things thereto belonging and shall also well and faithfully execute and return all writs or other process to him directed and shall also pay and deliver to the person or persons entitled to receive the same all sums of money and all goods and chattels by him levied seized or taken agreeably to the directions of the writ or other process under which the same shall have been levied seized or taken and also shall keep and detain in safe custody all and every person or persons committed to his custody or by him taken in execution or who shall be committed for want of bail without suffering them or any of them to escape or depart from his custody and shall also satisfy and pay all judgements which shall be rendered against him as coroner and shall also well and truly execute and perform the several duties required of or imposed upon him by the laws of the State of Maryland then this obligation to be void and of none effect else to be and remain in full force and virtue in law William Kirby (seal) Test Vachel Straughn Jos Flint (seal) Having examined the above James Straughn (seal) Bond approve of the same Jas. Dixon C. Justice of C. Court Otho J. Linthicum Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Exd from 65 bill of sale was received and recorded on the 31.st day of Richard Linthicum May 1852 to wit Know all men by these presents that I Richard Linthicum of Dorchester County State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of One Hundred and seventy dollars current money to me in hand paid by Otho J. Linthicum of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Otho J. Linthicum his administrators and assigns a negro woman a slave for life named Leah and now of the age of six months and called James also a slave for life To have and to hold the said negro woman Leah and her child James as aforesaid to the said Otho J. Linthicum his executors and administrators |
