423 and assigns forever and I the said Richard Linthicum for myself my heirs executors and administrators all and singular the said negro woman Leah and her Child called James unto the said Otho J Linthicum his executors administrators and assigns against me the said Richard Linthicum my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents and I the said Richard Linthicum have put the said Otho J. Linthicum in full possession of the said negro woman Leah and her child James by delivering the said woman Leah and the said child James to the said Otho J. Linthicum at the sealing and delivering of these presents In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of May in the year one thousand Eight hundred and fifty two Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Richard Linthicum (seal) Whitefield Woolford State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: Be it remembered that on this nineteenth day of May in the year one Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty two before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared Richard Linthicum party to the within and aforegoing bill of sale and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided. And now also at the same and place before me the aforesaid Justice of the peace personally appeared Otho J Linthicum party also to the aforegoing bill of sale and makes oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty of Almighty God That The Consideration set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged and sworn to by the said parties before me Sworn before Whitefield Woolford D.r Thomas H. Handy Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that Exd from 65 the following bill of sale was received and recorded on David M. Corkran the 2.nd day June 1852 to wit Know all men by these presents That I David M Corkran of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and forty seven dollars and forty cents ($347.40) current money of Maryland to me in hand paid by Doctor Thomas H Handy of the county and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said David M. Corkran do hereby acknowledge have Granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Doctor Thomas H Handy his heirs Executors administrators and assigns the following property to wit: Negro woman silva aged about twenty two years said negro woman ^Silva being a^ slave for life and sound in mind and body To have and To hold the said negro woman Silva above bargained and sold or mentioned Deld to R D Jackson Jr adm of Dr Handy Novr 23 1852 |
