Received of me Wright ten cents in lieu of a stamp on this bill of sale Francis J Henry Clerk George Hart Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the Exd from 60 following Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 6th Susan Tubman day of May 1852 to wit Know all men by these presents that I Susan Tubman of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Three hundred and fifty dollars Current Money of Maryland to me in hand paid by George Hart of the said county and state before the execution and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Susan Tubman has granted bargained sold conveyed and transferred ^and by these presents do grant bargain sell convey and transfer^ unto the Said George Hart his heirs and assigns the following negro to wit One Negro Woman named Maria aged about Seventeen years of a dark chesnut black Colour and about 5 feet high with a scar on her left side & black occasioned by a burn from fire Slave for life To have and to hold the said above ^named^ negro unto the said George Hart his heirs and assigns forever to his and their sold use and uses forever and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever against me the said Susan Tubman and my heirs and against all persons whatsoever Claiming the same or any part thereof In witness whereof the said Susan Tubman has hereunto subscribed her name and affixed her seal the 6.th day of May 1852 Signed sealed and delivered Susan Tubman (seal) in presence of Charles Corkran Maryland Dorchester County St Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this sixth day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty two personally appeared Susan Tubman the party grantor in the aforegoing Bill of Sale and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed and delivered the same for the uses and purposes therein Specified And on the same day before me as aforesaid personally appeared George Hart the grantee named in the aforegoing Bill of Sale And made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration mentioned in the foregoing bill of sale is true and bona fide as Therein Set fourth and Specified Acknowledged & sworn before Charles Corkran Received May 6.th 1852 of George Hart one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this bill of Sale Francis J Henry Clek Levin Busick Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that Exd from 75 the following Bill of Sale was received and recorded Levin S.
