41. her Negro Woman named Susan aged about seventeen years 22.d next February 1848 slave or servant for the term of eight years from the 22.d day of next February 1848 and her infant child William slave for life and sound in body and mind: To have and to hold the said negro woman Susan for the said term of Eight years aforesaid and her child William as above bargained and sold unto the said James D. Twilley, his heirs, executors Administrators and Assigns against her the said Emily Hurst, her heirs, executors and Administrators and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant & defend. Twilley before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said County and Acknowledged the above Bill of sale to be their Act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly made and provided. W.m W. Le Compte Benjamin B. Harrison's Be it remembered that the following Certificate Paid Certificate of Negroes was recorded on the 25.th day of December 1847. Ex.d State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit: I hereby certify that being seized and possessed as natural Guardian of my son John S. Harrison of certain Negro slaves that is to say Latitia aged about twenty years and Benjamin aged about one year and being desirous to remove and being the said Negroes from the state of Virginia into this State for the use and benefit of my said son John S. Harrison and not for sale do make out this certificate of the said Negroes agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided. Witness my hand & seal this 25.th day of December 1847. Harrison as Guardian aforesaid appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid and made Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that he is a Citizen of the state of Maryland and resides in Dorchester County and that the above is a true and correct list of the said Negro Slaves and that he hath not removed the same into this State for |
