401 of the peace in and for said County Peter G Lecompt and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in the within Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Sworn Before Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County Sc. On this 25.th day of February Eighteen hundred and fifty two personally appeared be me the subscriber a justice of the peace in and for Dorchester County aforesaid Derham Clash and acknowledged within and foregoing Bill of sale to be his act and deed and delivered the same for the uses and purposes therein mentioned Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Received the 25.th day of February 1852 of Peter G Lecompt the sum of one Dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of sale Francis P Henry Clerk Thomas Jones Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that Exd from the following Bill of sale was received and recorded John W Jones on the 19th day of February 1852 to wit Levin W Jones Know all men by these presents that we and others the undersigned John W Jones Roger W Jones Levin Jones and Nancy Ann Tall Elizabeth D Jones Arthur James Jones being Children of Thomas Jones for and in consideration of the sum of Five Dollars to me in hand paid and for and in consideration of the natural love and affection we have for Thomas Jones of William have given granted bargained and sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Jones and his heirs Exor.s Admrs and assigns forever all the right title claim interest or demand which we may now have or might hereafter be entitled to in and out of the following property to wit Negro woman Mary Celeste and her child ^John^ who being now in possession of the said Thomas Jones and which were conveyed to the said Thomas Jones Jr. by Thomas Jones our Father by regular Bill of sale heretofore executed to have and to hold the said negro slave or slaves for life to the said Thomas Jones Jr and his heirs Exor.s admr.s and assigns forever. In testimony whereof the said John W Jones Roger W Jones Levin Jones Nancy Ann Tall Elizabeth D Jones and Authur James Jones have hereto set our hands and affixed our seals this 19.th day of February in the Year Eighteen hundred and fifty two Signed sealed and acknowledged before Arthur James Jones (seal) me James Craig J.
