387. Levin Mobray Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following bill of sale was received from and recorded on the 9th day of January A. D. 1852. To wit: Solomon Wilson Know all men by these presents that I Solomon Wilson of Dorchester County and State of maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Four hundred and nineteen dollars and twenty nine cents, current money, to me in hand paid by Levin mobray of the County and State aforesaid, at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. I the said Solomon Wilson have given granted, bargained, sold, conveyed and transferred, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell, convey and transfer unto the said Levin Mobray his heirs and assigns forever, the following personal property to wit: one bay mare named Queen, one yoke of steers, yoke and cows one ox cart one heifer two hogs twenty barrels of long corn, and ten barrels of short corn one thousand pounds of blade fodder two stacks of Top fodder two stacks of straw one harrow one plow gear one old gig one saddle and bridle one lot of Poultry two beds, bedsteads and furniture one dozen chairs, two carpets and all the balance of my household and kitchen furniture and personal property of every kind and description whatsoever. To Have and To Hold the said goods and chattels and personal property above mentioned and described unto the said Levin Mobray his heirs and assigns, to his and their only proper use and behoof, and for no other use, intent or purpose whatsoever And the said Solomon Wilson doth for himself his heirs, executors and administrators hereby warrant and defend the said above described goods and chattels and personal estate against him the said Solomon Wilson and his heirs and against all persons whatsoever unto him the said Levin Mobray his heirs and assigns. In testimony whereof the said Solomon Wilson has hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal this fifth day of January in the year eighteen hundred and fifty two. Conoway of Dorchester County State of Maryland for & in consideration of the ^sum^ of two hundred and twenty five dollars lawful money of the State of Maryland in hand paid by William I. Cowart of the County & State above mentioned which is in full payment for my sugn slave named William Henry Godwin he being Eleven years old on the twelfth day of October Eighteen hundred and fifty one Do serve as a slave untill he is twenty five years old & no longer and then & before & discharged from all further & manner of servitude as will more fully appear on reference to a Manumission to him and other negroes made by John M Johnston & recorded in the Clerks office of Baltimore County Court Said Negro being sold without any guarantee of Character Delivered to Wm I Cowart June 21 1852 |
