                                                    I Hereby Certify that James Smith Esquire before whom
the Aforegoing Acknowledgment and Affidavit appear to have been made and who has thereto
subscribed his name was at the time of So doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of
Maryland [illegible] for Dorchester County aforesaid duly Commissioned and sworn
       {Seal}   In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal of
                    Dorchester County Court this 4 day of September A. D. 1851.

Samuel McBride              Be it remembered that the following Bill
Paid   Ex.d   from   65      of sale was recorded on the 15.th day of
Michael Mitchell               September A. D. 1851, To wit:
                                        Know all men by these presents that I
Michael Mitchell of Dorchester County & state of Maryland, for and
in consideration of the sum of Fifty five dollars, current money
of Maryland, to me in hand paid by Samuel McBride of the
County and state aforesaid, have granted, bargained & sold,
and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the
said Samuel McBride, his heirs & Assigns, one Negro slave
called Affa, to serve untill she is thirty years of age, which
will be the twenty third day of December Eighteen hundred
and fifty four, at which time said Negro Woman will be
free.  To have and to hold the said Negro Woman Affa
as above bargained & sold, unto the said Samuel McBride,
his heirs, executors & Administrators and Assigns, against me
the said Michael Mitchell, my heirs, executors and Administrators,
and against all persons whatever shall & will warrant and
defend.  In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our names
and affixed our seals this sixteenth day of September eighteen
hundred & fifty one.                              Michael Mitchell   (seal)
Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of
                James H. Radcliffe   J. P.      Sam.l McBride      (seal)

State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:  On this fifteenth day of
September in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred & fifty one, personally appeared
before me, a Justice of the Peace in & for said County the within named Michael Mitchell
and Samuel McBride & acknowledged the within Bill of Sale to be their Act & deed:
And at the same time came before me Samuel McBride, the party grantee therein
named, & made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration
set forth in this Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth,
According to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided.
