a Justice of the Peace for said City appears Christopher Sinclair
and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be
his act and deed according to the true intent & meaning thereof.
Acknowledged before                                    John Walter

On the back of the foregoing instrument appeared the following
endorsement, To wit:
Bill of Sale, Christopher Sinclair to Mary Jones, Rec.d to
be recorded the 11.th day of September 1844 at 1/2 past 12 OClock M
same day recorded in Liber T. L. N.o 69 folio 237 one of the chattel
Records of Baltimore County and Examined p.r   Tho. Kell Clk

Annexed to the foregoing instrument was the following Certificate
To wit:
State of Maryland Baltimore County Sct.   I hereby certify
that John Walter Esquire before whom the anexed acknowledgment
was made and who has thereto subscribed his name was
at the time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State
of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned
and sworn         In testimony whereof I hereto set my hand
                         and affix the seal of Baltimore County
       (Seal)         Court this 19.th day of November 1847.

William ^R^ Tall      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale
Ex.d  from               was recorded on the 29.th day of November 1847, To wit:
Levin Phillips            Know all men by these presents that I Levin Phillips
                                Executor of Margaret Phillips for and in consideration
of the sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid by William R.
Tall, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant,
bargain and sell unto the said William R. Tall my Negro woman
named Hannah to serve three years from the death of Margaret Phillips
also Child William Ervin aged two years next March to serve untill he
is thirty one years old  To have and to hold the said Negroes as above
bargained and sold unto the said William R. Tall, his heirs, Executors,
Administrators and Assigns against me the said Levin Phillips Executor
of Margaret Phillips, my heirs, Executors and Administrators and against
all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant & defend.
In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty
ninth day of November 1847.                                 Levin Phillips      (Seal)
