State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:   On this 6.th day
of August 1851, before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace
of said County, personally appeared Henry Cook, and Acknowledged
the foregoing Bill of sale to be his Act and deed, according to
the true purport and meaning of the same and the Acts of
Assembly in such case made and provided   At the same time
appeared Otho Thomas, party grantee, mentioned in the aforesaid
Bill of sale, and made Oath that the consideration set forth in
said Bill of sale are true & Boni fide as therein set forth.
Sworn before                              Samuel Abbott

1851 Augt 6.th Rec.d the sum of One dollar in lieu of a
stamp on this Bill of sale.                           Wm Jackson   Clk.


Nancy Thomas             Be it remembered that the following Bill
Ex.d   from         65      of Sale was recorded on the 8.th day of
Henry Cook, Adm.r     August A. D. 1851, To wit:
                                    Know all men by these presents that I, Henry
Cook, administrator of John Thomas, of Dorchester County and
State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of
Four hundred & fifty dollars current mon of the State of Maryland
to me in hand paid by Nancy Thomas of the County & State
aforesaid, at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the
receipt whereof I, the said Henry Cook, Acting Administrator
of John Thomas, do hereby Acknowledge, have granted, bargained
and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the
said Nancy Thomas, her Executors, Administrators & Assigns, one
Negro Woman called Ann about thirty one years of age, one
Negro Boy called Waley about ten years old, one Negro Girl
named Mary about four years old, ^all^ the said Negroes slaves for
life   To have & to hold said Negroes to the said Nancy Thomas,
his Executors, Administrators & Assigns   And I the said Henry
Cook Administrators for John Thomas, for myself, my heirs,
Executors and Administrators, all of which said Negroes I the
said Henry Henry Cook, Administrator of John Thomas, do
warrant and defend to the said Nancy Thomas, against me
my Executors, Administrators and every person or persons whomsoever
shall or may claim under me, administrator the aforesaid Negroes
