State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:  Be it remembered
and it is hereby Certified that on this nineteenth day of July in
the year one thousand eight hundred & fifty one, before me the
subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace, for the State of
Maryland in and for Dorchester County, personally appeared William
J. Jones, Executor of John Jones of Col, deceased aforesaid, together
with Margaret A. Jones, who did acknowledge the aforegoing
Indenture, or bill of sale, to be their Act & deed according to
the purport, true intent & meaning of the same, and the
Acts of Assembly in such case made & provided:  And
also at the same time & place, before me, the Justice of
the Peace aforesaid, personally appeared Margaret A Jones,
grantee as aforesaid in the said Bill of sale and made
Oath that the consideration set forth in the said Bill
of sale is true & bona fide as therein set forth.

Otho Thomas                Be it remembered & it is hereby Certified that
Ex.d   from   60             the following Bill of sale was recorded on the
Henry Cook, Adm.r      8.th day of August A. D. 1851, To wit:
                                     Know all men by these presents that I, Henry
Cook of Dorchester County & State of Maryland Acting administrator
of John Thomas, for and in consideration of the sum of Three
hundred dollars, current money of the State of Maryland, to me in
hand paid by Otho Thomas of the County & State aforesaid, at and
before the ensealing & delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof
I, the said Henry Cook Acting Administrator of John Thomas ^do^ hereby
acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents
do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Otho Thomas, his Executors,
Administrators & Assigns, one Negro Boy called Robert about
thirteenth years old, a slave for life  To have and to sid Negro
Boy called Robert, to the said Otho Thomas, his executors, Administrators
and I the said Henry Cook Acting Administrator of John
Thomas, for myself, my heirs, Executors & administrators which
Negro Boy Robert I the said Henry Cook Administrator Acting
Administrator of John Thomas do warrant & defend to the
said Otho Thomas his heirs, executors & administrators and
against all person or persons claiming unto me as administrator
