that the consideration set forth in the said Mortgage or Bill of
sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth.

Zadock H. Rosse      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale
    Ex.d   from   60     was recorded on the 3.d day of June 1851, To wit:
Aaron Mitchell          Know all Men by these presents that I, Aaron
                                 Mitchel of Dorchester County, for and in consideration
of the sum of Three hundred dollars, to me in hand paid by Zadock H.
Rosse of the County aforesaid, at or before the delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof I, the said Aaron Mitchell, do hereby Acknowledge,
have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant,
bargain & sell unto Zadock H. Rosse, his Executors, Administrators
and Assigns, a certain Negro Boy named Leonard, slave for life,
about ten years of age, which said Boy I warrant to be sound
and healthy.  To have and to hold said Negro Boy slave named
Leonard, above bargained and sold, to the said Zadock H. Rosse,
his Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever.  And I, the
said Aaron Mitchell, for myself, heirs, Executors & administrators,
the said Negro Boy named Leonard as a slave unto the said
Zadock H. Rosse, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns, against
me the said Aaron Mitchell, my heirs, executors & Assigns, and
against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will
warrant and defend by these presents.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and affixed my seal this 27 day of May 1851.

Sam.l Abbot   Amanda Abbott               Aaron Mitchell   (Seal)

Dorchester County, State of Maryland   On the 27 day of May
1851 personally appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace
for said County, Zadock H. Rosse, the party grantee, being well known
to me, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that
the consideration set forth in the above Bill of sale is true and
bona fide agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made and
provided.  On the same day personally appeared before me, one of the
Justices of the Peace of said County, Aaron Mitchell the party grantor,
and Acknowledges the above Bill of sale to be his act and deed,
and delivered for the purposes therein mentioned
