326 mortgaged by me, the said John Brown to secure to the said Sarah Woolford the payment of the money aforesaid. In Witness whereof I the said John Brown have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventh day of April A. D. 1851. Signed, sealed & delivered in the his presence of James Rea John x Brown (Seal) mark Dorchester County, To wit: on the seventh day of April A. D. 1851, before me the subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace in & for said County, appears John Brown and acknowledges the aforegoing instrument of writing to be his act & deed, according to the true intent & meaning thereof and the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided: And also at the same time personally appeared Sarah Woolford and made Oath that the consideration set forth in the within Bill of sale is true & bona fide as therein set forth. William Frazier Be it remembered that the following Deed Exd To 85 of Manumission was recorded on the 8.th Sundry Negroes day of April 1851, To wit: To all persons whom it doth or may concern: Be it known that I, William Frazier, of Neck District in the County of Dorchester & State of Maryland, for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving, do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free the following Negroes, Slaves, belonging to me and now in my possession, To wit: one Negro Woman called Ann to be free from & after the twenty fifth day of December which will be in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty three one Negro Girl called Sarah Melinda to be free from & after the twenty fifth day of December which will be in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & seventy three One other Negro Girl called Mary Amanda to be free from & after the twenty fifth day of December which will be in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & seventy five Also one other Negro Girl Eliza Jane to be free from & after the twenty fifth day of December which will be in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & seventy seven, And the said Negro slaves named Ann, Sarah Melinda, Mary Amanda and Eliza Jane, I do declare to be thenceforth, that is to say, the said Ann from & after the said twenty fifth day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty three, the said Sarah Melinda on the said twenty fifth day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & seventy three, the said Mary Amanda |
