327. on the said twenty fifth day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & seventy five, the said Eliza Jane on the said twenty fifth day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven, free, manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me, my Executors or administrators and from all manner of claim or right of claim of servitude or service, by me, my Executors or administrators forever: And I do hereby declare, fix and determine that the state and Condition of the issue that may be born of the said Negroes, slaves named Ann, Sarah Melinda, Mary Amanda & Eliza Jane before the dates at which they are severally set free by this Deed shall be slaves untill such time issue shall arrive at the age of thirty one years, and in case any such issue being females and their female descendants shall have issue during their periods of service then and in every such case the state & condition of such issue shall be that of Slaves untill such issue shall arrive at the age of thirty one years & then to be free. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this eighth day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty one. Hugh Nield {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that I {50 cts} Hugh Nield, of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Thomas King Carroll J.r of Dorchester County & State of Maryland, at & before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof I, the said Hugh Nield, do hereby Acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Thomas King Carroll J.r, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns, the Negroes herein after mentioned and described, that is to say, Negro man Fortune, Negro Woman Lucy, Negro Woman Leah, Negro Girl Anna, Negro Girl Minty; all of which said Negroes are slaves for life, |
