I, William W LeCompte do hereby certify agreeably ^according^  to the Act of Assembly
relating to Married Women passed December Session Eighteen hundred
and forty two, Chapter 293 Section 7, that the following is a true and
correct list of Negroes owned by my wife, Sarah A. LeCompte, as conveyed
to her by William Rea as per Bill sale recorded in the Clerks Office,
Viz:  Negro Woman Rebecca aged fifty years   Woman Harriet aged forty
five years   Woman Mahaly aged thirty years   Woman Elizabeth aged
sixteen years    Boy Noah aged fourteen years    Eveline aged thirteen years
Girl Maria aged fourteen years   Alexander aged six years   Ellen aged
five years   Louisa aged four years   Murray aged three years   And child
Harriet aged two months.  Witness my hand & seal March 18 1851.

Sarah A. LeCompte      Be it remembered that the following Bill of
Exd      from      70        Sale was recorded on the 18.th day of March 1851.
William Rea                   Know all men by these presents that I, William
                                     Rea, of Dorchester County and State of Maryland,
for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars, current money, to me in
hand paid by Sarah A. LeCompte, wife of William W. LeCompte, of
Dorchester County & State of maryland, have granted, bargained & sold,
and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said Sarah A.
LeCompte, wife of William W. LeCompte, her heirs and Assigns, the following
Negroes, Woman Rebecca aged fifty years   Harriet aged forty five
years   Mahala aged thirty years   Elizabeth aged Sixteen years   Boy Noah
aged fourteen years   Eveline aged thirteen years   Maria aged fourteen
years   Alexander aged six years   Ellen aged five years   Louisa aged
four years   Murray aged three years, and Child Harriet aged two months,
slaves for life, and sound in body & mind.  To have and to hold the said
Negroes Rebecca, Harriet, Mahala, Elizabeth, Noah, Eveline, Maria,
Alexander, Ellen, Louisa, Murray and Harriet, being the same Negroes
and their increase which I purchased at Sheriffs sale in the year
Eighteen hundred & forty three as the property of William W. LeCompte,
Husband of the said Sarah A. LeCompte, as above bargained & sold
unto the said Sarah A. LeCompte, her heirs, executors, administrators
and Assigns, against me the said William Rea, my heirs, executors
and Administrators, and against all & every other person or persons
whatsoever, claiming by, from or under them, shall & will warrant
and forever defend.  In testimony whereof I, William Rea have
hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eighteenth day of March
Eighteen hundred & fifty one.
