316. John Jones of Col. Be it remembered that the following Bill Ex.d from 70 of Sale was recorded on the 19.th day of February Tho. C. Jones, Ex.r in the year 1851, To wit: Know all Men by these presents that I, Thomas C. Jones, Executor of John Jones of Col. of Dorchester County & State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and twenty dollars and fifty Cents, current money, to me in hand paid by John Jones of Col. of Dorchester County and state of Maryland, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the said John Jones of Col. his heirs & Assigns, the following Negro Man, named Ned or Edward, aged about twenty two years, to serve ten years from January 1.st Eighteen hundred & forty eight, slave for term of years, and sound in body & mind. To have and to hold the said Negro Man named Ned or Edward, aged about twenty two years, to serve ten years from January 1, 1848, as above bargained & sold, unto the said John Jones of Col. his heirs, executors, administrators and Assigns, against me the said Thomas C. Jones, my heirs, Executors and ^and^ Administrators & Assigns, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant & forever defend. In testimony whereof I, Thomas C. Jones & John Jones of Col. have hereto set our hands and affixed seals this 19 day of February Eighteen hundred and fifty one. Signed, sealed & delivered in the Tho.s C. Jones (seal) presence of Charles Corkran John Jones of Col. (seal) Maryland Dorchester County To wit: On the 19 day of February in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty one, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in & for said County, the within named Tho. C. Jones, Executor of John Jones of Col. and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his Act & deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same: And at the same time came before me, John Jones of Col. the within purchaser within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846, Chapter 271, made and provided. Acknowledged before Charles Corkran 1851 February 19 Rec.d the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of Sale. Wm Jackson Clk. |
