and to hold the above mentioned property or Negroes, unto the said
Henry Shenton of R, his heirs and Assigns, to the only proper use, benefit
and behoof of the said Henry Shenton of R, his heirs & Assigns forever.
Witness my hand & seal this first day of January eighteen hundred and
fifty one.

                                     Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:
Be it remembered that on the first day of January 1851, before me
the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace, of the State of Maryland in &
for Dorchester County, personally appeared Josiah I. Meekins and Acknowledged
the within or foregoing Bill of Sale or instrument of
writing to be his Act and deed   Also same time personally appeared
Henry Shenton of R, grantee of the said Bill of sale or instrument
of writing, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty
God that the consideration set forth in the above Bill
of sale or instrument of writing is true & bona fide as therein
set forth.   Acknowledged before and Certified by

George Wallace      Be it remembered that the following Bill of
Ex.d   from      60    Sale was recorded on the 22.d day of January 1851, To wit:
Susan Tubman         Know all men by these presents that I, Susan Tubman
                                of Dorchester County & State of Maryland, for and in
consideration of the sum of Two hundred & fifty dollars, current money,
to me in hand paid by George Wallace, of the County & State aforesaid,
at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged, the said Susan Tubman hath bargained & sold,
transfered & delivered, and by these presents doth bargain & sell, transfer and
deliver, unto the said George Wallace, his heirs & Assigns forever,
against me the said Susan Tubman & my heirs, and against all
persons whatsoever, to the only proper use of the said George Wallace,
his heirs & Assigns forever, and for no other use, intent or purpose
whatsoever.  In testimony whereof the said Susan Tubman has hereto
subscribed her name and affixed her seal this 13.th day of January in
the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty one.

presence of Charles Corkran                           Susan Tubman   (Seal)

                         Maryland, Dorchester County, ss:  On the 13.th day of
January in the year 1851, personally appeared Susan Tubman before the
