313 granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Thomas H. Wrightson, his heirs & Assigns, the following Negro Man, named John Allen, aged about twenty five years, which I purchased of him as Administrator of his Brother, slave for life and sound in body & mind: To have and to hold the said Negro Man, named John Allen, aged about twenty five years, as above bargained & sold, unto the said Thomas H. Wrightson, his heirs, executors Administrators & Assigns, against me the said William Frazier, my heirs, executors & Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant and forever defend. In testimony whereof I, William Frazier, have hereto set my hand & affixed seal this sixth day of January Eighteen hundred & fifty one. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Sam.l Abbott Samuel Abbott J.r W.m Frazier (seal) Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this sixth day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty one, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, the within named William Frazier and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his act & deed, according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same: And at the same time came before me, Thomas H. Wrightson, within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846, Chapter 271, made & provided. Acknowledged before Sam.l Abbott J. P. Received the 16.th January 1851 of Thomas H. Wrightson the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this bill of sale. Wm Jackson Clk Henry Shenton of R Be it remembered that the following Bill Ex.d from 60 of Sale was recorded on the 16.th day of Josiah I. Meekins January A. D. 1851, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, Josiah I. Meekins, of Dorchester County State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & twenty five dollars, to me in hand paid by Henry Shenton of R, of the County & State aforesaid, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the aforesaid Henry Shenton of R, his heirs & assigns forever, one Negro Woman named Lager Ross, to serve for seven years from this present date, or whatever time the said Lager Ross has to serve, as reference to the last will & testament of my Sister, Jane Meekins, will show; together with all her increase of children during said time or term; also said Negro Womans child name Mary Louisa, a slave for life, it now being about six months old.
