303. And the said Hugh Maguire, for himself, his heirs, executors or Administrators, or some or one of them, shall & will well & truly pay, or cause to be paid, unto the said William W. Crawford, Trustee, the Bond or Bonds upon (which the said Craig & Leonard are securities) his executors, Administrators and Assigns the said sum of Eleven hundred and seventy two dollars and six cents, together with interest for the same, at such time as in the within recited premises and condition herein mentioned & appointed for the payment thereof: And the said Hugh Maguire; for himself, his executors and Administrators, all and singular the said Negro Slaves, by these presents granted, bargained & sold, and every part thereof, unto the said Samuel Craig & William Leonard, their executors, administrators and assigns, against him the said Hugh Maguire, his executors, Administrators, and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said Hugh Maguire hath hereto set his name & affixed his seal the day & date within written Signed, sealed & delivered in the Hugh Maguire (seal) presence of James Craig Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the third day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, Hugh Maguire, party Mortgagor, and acknowledged the within and aforegoing Mortgage Bill of sale to be his Act and deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same: And at the same time came before me Samuel Craig & William Leonard, party Mortgagees within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that the consideration set forth in this Mortgage Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846, Chapter 271, made and provided. Acknowledged before James Craig J. P. 1850 December 21.st Rec.d Seventy five cents in lieu of a stamp on this Mortgage Bill of sale. Wm Jackson Clk James Marshall Be it remembered it is hereby Ex.d from paid 60 certified that the following Bill of sale was recorded on Nancy Camper, Negro the 26.th day of December A. D. 1850, To wit: Paid Know all men by these presents that I, Nancy Camper, free coloured woman, of Dorchester County and state of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty cents, current money, to me in hand paid by James Marshall of said County & State, at and before the sealing & delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof I, the said Nancy Camper, do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold Deld to James Marshall 28.th Decr 1850 |
