to him in hand paid by the said John Jones of Col at or before the
sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof the said Hugh
Maguire doth hereby acknowledge, and thereof & therefrom doth acquit,
release, exonerate & forever discharge the said John Jones of Col. his heirs,
executors & administrators, & every of them, by these presents hath granted, bargained
& sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain & sell, unto John
Jones of Col, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns, Negro Boy herein
after particularly mentioned and expressed, (that is to say) Negro Boy
John aged about ten years, now in the possession of said Hugh Maguire:
To have and to hold the said Negro Boy John herein before granted,
bargained & sold, or mentioned or intended so to be, unto the said John
Jones of Col, his executors, Administrators & Assigns, to the only proper
use & behoof of the said John Jones of Col, his executors, Administrators
and Assigns, forever;   Provided Always and these presents are upon
this condition, that if the said Hugh Maguire, his Executors or Administrators
shall & do well & truly pay, or cause to be paid unto the said
John Jones of Col or Amos Bowdle, his executors, Administrators or Assigns,
the full sum of one hundred dollars, current money, with legal interest
for the same, on or before the thirty first day of August in the year of
Our Lord eighteen hundred & fifty one, then & in such case these presents
and every matter & thing herein contained shall cease, determine & be utterly
void to all intents & purposes, any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof
in anywise notwithstanding:  And the said Hugh Maguire for
himself, his heirs, executors and Administrators or some or one of
them shall & will well & truly pay, or cause to be paid unto the said
John Jones of Col (or Amos Bowdle) his Executors, Administrators
and Assigns, the said sum of one hundred dollars, together with
interest for the same, at such time as in the within recited premises
and condition herein mentioned and appointed for the payment thereof:
And the said Hugh Maguire, for himself, his executors & administrators,
all & singular the said Negro Boy John, by these presents granted, bargained
& sold, and every part thereof, unto the said John Jones of Col his
executors, Administrators & Assigns, against him the said Hugh
Maguire, his executors, Administrators, and against all & every other
person and persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant and forever
defend by these presents.   In witness whereof the said Hugh Maguire
hath hereunto set his name and affixed his seal the day & year within
written.   Signed, sealed & delivered
in the presence of   James Rea                     Hugh Maguire   (Seal)

Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:  On the Eleventh day of December in
the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty, personally appeared
before me, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, Hugh Maguire,
