298. Mary Ennalls Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the to Ex.d following Deed of Manumission was recorded on Henry Smith Negro the 10.th day of December A. D. 1850, To wit: Paid To all whom it may concern, be it known that I, Mary Ennalls, of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving, have released from slavery, liberated, Manumitted written and set free, and by these presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit & set free, my Negro Man named Henry Smith, being about the age of twenty nine and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance, and him the said Negro Man, named Henry Smith, I do declare to be free, manumitted & discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me, my Executors or administrators, on the first day of January Eighteen hundred & fifty one and forever. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this ninth day of December A. D. 1850 Witness Elizabeth Sulivane James Rea Mary Ennalls (sealed) State of Maryland, Dorchester County, sc. Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty, before the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid, personally appears Mary Ennalls, she being known to me to be the person who is named & described as, and professing to be the party to the foregoing Deed of Manumission or Indenture, and doth Acknowledge the said Indenture, or instrument of writing, to be her act and deed. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day & year aforesaid. James Rea Mary Ann Cook Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the Ex.d from 75 following bill of sale was recorded on the 12.th day Sarah Hambleton of December in the year 1850 1850, To wit: Know all Men by these presents that I Sarah Hambleton of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Mary Ann Cook of same County in the said state, at & before the sealing & delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof I, the said Sarah Hambleton, do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said Mary Ann Cook, her Executors, Administrators and Assigns, all the goods, Household stuff, implements & furniture particularly mentioned, expressed and contained in the schedule hereunto annexed, that is to say, one Clock, one Cow, one ^Bed,^ Bedstead & furniture, one Bureaux one Cupboard, one Mahogany Table, ½ doz chairs, one milk house, 3 Iron Pots, one Oven & lid, one Spider, one Bill of Sale del.d to Noah Abbott March 1.st 1852. |
