296. case made & provided. On this thirtieth day of November Eighteen hundred & fifty, personally appeared Thomas Jones of W.m and made Oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God the above Bill of sale is a true and bona fied bill of sale and the consideration therein mentioned is just & true as set forth in said paper. Sworn before James Craig (seal) 1850 December 5.th Rec.d the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of sale. Wm Jackson Clk Thomas M. Flint Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the Ex.d from 70 following Bill of sale was recorded on the 9.th day James Thompson Adm.r of December A. D. 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, James Thompson, Adm.r of W.m J. B. Thompson, of Dorchester County & state of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred & ten Dolls, current money, to me in hand paid by Thomas M. Flint, of Dorchester County & state of Maryland, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said Thomas M. Flint, his heirs & Assigns, Negro Man named Joshua, a servant untill the end of the year Eighteen hundred & sixty seven, at which time her will be entitled to his freedom under the Will of Jacob Howard deceased, sound in body & mind: To have and to hold the said Negro Man, as a servant aforesaid, untill the expiration of the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & sixty seven 1867, as above bargained & sold, unto the said Thomas M. Flint, his heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns, against me the said James Thompson, Adm.r of W.m J. B. Thompson and his & my heirs, executors & Administrators, and against all & every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant & forever defend. In testimony whereof we James Thompson, Administrator aforesaid, Thomas M. Flint have hereto set our hands & affixed seals this twenty fifth day of November Eighteen hundred & fifty. Flint (seal) Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the seventh day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in & for said County, the within named James Thompson & Thomas M. Flint, and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be their act & deed, according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same: And at the same time came before me, Thomas M. Flint within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true and bona fide, as therein set forth, according to the true meaning |
