295 Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the second day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in & for said County, Hugh Maguire, party Mortgagor, and acknowledged the within & aforegoing Mortgage Bill of sale to be his Act and deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same And at the same time came before me William W. Crawford, party Mortgagee within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Mortgage Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846 Chapter 271 made & provided. Acknowledged before James Rea Received the 2.d December 1850 of William W. Crawford the sum of ten cents in lieu of a stamp on this Mortgage Bill of sale. Wm Jackson Clk Thomas Jones of W.m Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that Paid Ex.d from the following Bill of sale was recorded on the 5.th Thomas Jones day of December A. D. 1850, To wit: Know all Men by these presents that I, Thomas Jones of John, of Dorchester County & state of Maryland, on account of the Natural love and affection which I have for Thomas Jones of Wm and his wife who is my daughter, and for and in consideration of the said Thomas Jones agreeing to board & clothe me as longer I may live, and for the consideration of the sum of one dollar, current money, to me in hand paid by Thomas Jones of W.m of the County and state aforesaid, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained, sold & delivered, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell & deliver unto the said Thomas Jones of Wm, a negro woman named Mary, age forty five or thereabouts A negro woman named Celisty, age twenty two years or thereabouts, and Negro Boy child name John age about five months, Negro Woman Mary, Celesty & her child John slaves for life, which said property I will warrant & defend to the said Thomas Jones of W.m his executors, Administrators & Assigns, against me, my executors, administrators, and against every other person or persons whomsoever. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our names and affixed our seals this 30.th day of November Eighteen hundred & fifty.
