289 Wheatley, within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846 Chapter 271 made & provided Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Augustus T. Wheatley Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the Ex.d from 60 following Bill of sale was recorded on the 6.th day Thomas Wingate of November in the year 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, Thomas Wingate, of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty four dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Augustus T. Wheatley, of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Augustus T. Wheatley, his heirs and Assigns, the following Negro Boy named Jacob, aged about six years, purchased of him the said Augustus T. Wheatley as Executor of his Father Jesse Wheatley, slave for life, and sound in body and mind: To have and to hold the said Negro Boy ^Jacob^ aged about six years, as above bargained & sold, unto the said Augustus T. Wheatley, his heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns, against me the said Thomas Wingate, my heirs, executors and Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant and forever defend. In testimony whereof I, Thomas Wingate, have hereunto set my hand and affixed seal this sixth day of November Eighteen hundred & fifty. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Thomas Wingate (Seal) Charles Corkran Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the sixth day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, the within named Thomas Wingate and Acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his Act and deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same: At the same time came before me, Augustus T. Wheatley within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846 Chapter 271 made and provided.
