288 have hereto set his hand and affixed seal this sixth day of November eighteen hundred & fifty. Signed, sealed & delivered in the Augustus T. Wheatley (Seal) presence of Charles Corkran Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the sixth day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, the within named Augustus T. Wheatley and Acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his Act & deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same; and at the same time came before me, Thomas Wingate within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846 Chapter 271, made & provided. Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Augustus T. Wheatley Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the Ex.d from 60 following Bill of sale was recorded on the 6.th Thomas Wingate day of November in the year 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, Thomas Wingate, of Dorchester County & State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Augustus T. Wheatley of Dorchester County & State of Maryland, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Augustus T. Wheatley, his heirs & Assigns, the following Negro Girl Sarah, aged about four years, purchased of him the said Augustus T. Wheatley as Executor of his Father Jesse Wheatley, slave for life, and sound in body & mind: To have and to hold the said Negro Girl Sarah, aged about four years, as above bargained & sold, unto the said Augustus T. Wheatley, his heirs, executors, Administrators & Assigns, against me the said Thomas Wingate, my heirs, executors & Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant & forever defend. In testimony whereof I Thomas Wingate have hereto set my hand and affixed seal this sixth day of November Eighteen hundred and fifty.
