287 County and State of Maryland, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Thomas Wingate, his heirs and Assigns, the foregoing Negro Boy Jacob aged about six years, slave for life, and sound in body and mind: To have and to hold the said Negro Boy Jacob, aged about six years, as above bargained & sold, unto the said Thomas Wingate, his heirs, executors, administrators and Assigns, against me the said Augustus T. Wheatley, Executor of Jesse Wheatley, my heirs, executors and Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend. In testimony whereof I, Augustus T. Wheatley, have hereto set my hand and affixed seal this sixth day of November Eighteen hundred & fifty. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Charles Corkran Augustus T. Wheatley (Seal) Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the sixth day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, the within named Augustus T. Wheatley, Executor of Jesse Wheatley, and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale to be his Act and deed, according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same; and at the same time came before me Thomas Wingate, within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846 Chapter 271 made and provided. Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Change Thomas Wingate Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the A. T. W. Ex.d from 60 following Bill of Sale was recorded on the 6.th A. T. Wheatley Ex.r day of November in the year 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, Augustus T. Wheatley, Executor of Jesse Wheatley, of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & twenty four dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Thomas Wingate of Dorchester County and state of Maryland, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Wingate, his heirs and assigns, the following Negro Girl Sarah aged about four years, slave for life, and sound in body & mind: To have and to hold the said Negro Girl Sarah, aged about four years, as above bargained and sold, unto the said Thomas Wingate, his heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns, against me the said Augustus T. Wheatley, Executor of Jesse Wheatley, my heirs, executors ^and^ administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend.
