286. William O. Cooper & Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the Sam.l R. Dunnock following Bill of Sale was recorded on the 5.th day of Ex.d from 65 November in the year 1850, To wit: Eliza Brodess {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that I Eliza {one dol.} Brodess of Dorchester County & State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars, current money of Maryland, to me in hand paid by William O. Cooper and Samuel R. Dunnock of the same County & State aforesaid, before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, I, the said Eliza Brodess, have given, granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain & sell unto the said William O. Cooper and Samuel R. Dunnock, their heirs & Assigns forever, one Negro named Daws Keene, slave for life, and sound in body & mind. To have and to hold the said Negro named Daws Keene unto the said William O Cooper & Samuel R. Dunnock, their heirs & Assigns forever, to them and their sole use and uses forever, and to and for no other use, intent or purpose whatsoever, against me, the said Eliza Brodess, my heirs and Assigns, and against all persons whatsoever claiming the said Negro, unto the said William O. Cooper & Samuel R. Dunnock, shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof I the said Eliza Brodess have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this fifth day of November in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Charles Corkran Eliza A. Brodess (Seal) State of Maryland, Dorchester County Sct: Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that on this fifth day of November in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty, personally appeared Eliza Brodess and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of sale to be her act and deed, and delivered the same for the uses & purposes therein mentioned: Also at the same time personally appeared William O Cooper and Samuel R. Dunnock, the parties grantee in the foregoing Bill of sale mentioned, before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the County & State aforesaid, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration in the foregoing Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth. Acknowledged & sworn before Charles Corkran charge Thomas Wingate Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the A. T. W. Ex.d from 60 following bill of sale was recorded on the 6.th day of A. T. Wheatley Ex.r November in the year 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, Augustus T. Wheatley, Executor of Jesse Wheatley, of Dorchester County and state of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of One ^Two^ hundred dollars current money, to me in hand paid by Thomas Wingate of Dorchester |
